Alexa Grasso’s Career, Record, and Performance Stats

Karen Alexa Grasso Montes is a Mexican-born mixed martial artist in the UFC Women’s Flyweight Division. Her current UFC record is currently 14-3-0. Grasso’s UFC debut was on November 5, 2016, during UFC Fight Night: Dos Anjos versus Ferguson. The bout against Heather Clark at the end of the third round was by unanimous decision in Grasso’s favor. 

Before her UFC debut, she engaged in bouts against fighters in GEX, the Fight Hard Championship, Xtreme Combat, and Invicta. At Invicta FC 11 and Invicta FC 18 is when Grasso started to be more recognized as a Women’s Flyweight fighter. The bout against Mizuki Inoue for Invicta FC 11 was the Fight of the Night where she took home the victory. Grasso’s win against Jodie Esquibel at Invicta FC 18 was recognized as the Performance of the Night.

Viviane Araujo’s Career, Record, and Performance Stats

Viviane Araujo Gomes is a Brazilian-born mixed martial artist fighting for the UFC Women’s Flyweight Division. Her current record is 11-3-0. Before her UFC debut against Talita Bernardo at UFC 237 where she won by TKO 48 seconds into the third round, she fought for organizations in Brazil and Japan including Pancrase and Jungle Fight.

During her pre-UFC days, her biggest accomplishment was becoming the Pancrase strawweight champion. All of Araujo’s future UFC bouts were won or lost via unanimous decision. She won at UFC 240, lost UFC 245, and won at two UFC Fight Nights in 2020 and 2021. Her prior fight against Katlyn Chookaigan at UFC Fight Night: Blachowicz vs. Rakic in May 2022 ended in a loss by unanimous decision at the end of the third round.

Who Will Win the UFC Fight Night 212 Main Card?

Grasso and Araujo are evenly matched in the number of losses they experienced while Grasso has three more wins than Araujo. Grasso has had three additional years’ experience in the UFC’s Octagon than Araujo.

While both weigh 125 lbs, Araujo has a farther reach of 68 inches which is two inches farther than Grasso’s reach of 66 inches. Grasso also has a one-inch advantage in height being 5’5” to Araujo’s 5’4”.

Araujo has 3% more takedown accuracy at 60% compared to Grasso which is 57%. They are almost tied in the number of significant strikes landed per minute with Araujo having 4.76 strikes and Grasso having 4.92.

Most of their prior bouts have gone to decision, so it could be anyone’s win. Araujo’s advantage in strikes landed per minute and takedown accuracy can outweigh Grasso’s advantage in height and experience in the Octagon.

Both fighters stand Orthodox, which means they both stand with their left foot farther in front than their right. This means that both of them will have their weaker side exposed to the other fighter, which they will have to do a good job of protecting with proper defenses to not get taken down.
