Otacore is a genre of music influenced or inspired by Japanese anime culture. The term Otacore was coined by Custom Metal Pins and the Every Noise At Once project, which defines it as fan-based music originating from the anime and manga community.
The word Otacore comes from the Japanese word “Otaku” which means geeks or nerds obsessed with anime/manga; and “Core” is used to refer to any hardcore music genre.
Spotify has added the Otacore genre to describe anime music and it has appeared in the year-end Spotify Wrapped summary for some anime fans. However, since many of them are not familiar with the term, they have no choice but to google the meaning of Otacore.

The Weirdcore genre originally started as an online art and aesthetic movement that focused on amateur, low-quality photography and digital graphics that were intentionally edited to convey a sense of confusion and disorientation.
This subculture has now entered the music scene, where people create songs that seem childish yet twisted. Despite being disturbing, Weirdcore is loved by many on the internet for its uniqueness.
