The Asus Tuf Gaming VG27WQ1B is a great monitor these days – 27 inches diagonally, 2560×1440 resolution and 165Hz refresh rate. This spec offers a good balance between clarity and responsiveness, and isn’t too difficult to drive with a mid-range computer. Normally, this model retails for £400+, but today Laptops Direct has the VG27WQ1B for just £289 – a pretty outstanding deal.
VG27WQ1B has a lot in common with best gaming monitor on the market today. It uses a curved VA panel that provides excellent contrast and minimizes the traditional disadvantages of VA panels. Poor viewing angles are handled by the screen’s curve, ensuring every side remains nearly aligned, while a fast pixel response time (1ms MRPT) helps prevent motion processing from affecting images. original VA design. The result is a monitor that performs well in both slow cinematic games as well as faster, more competitive fare.
Katharine hasn’t had a chance to test VG27WQ1B for herself yet, but good Canadians at RTings Dubbed this model as a “great gaming monitor”, “packed with features” such as FreeSync, G-Sync Compatibility, and Black Frame Insertion (hereinafter called Extreme Low Motion Blur or ELMB). RTings also notes that the display’s peak brightness and reflection handling make it well-suited for bright rooms, while deep blacks and an excellent contrast ratio mean it’ll also look great in dark environment.
For the money, I think you’ll struggle to find a monitor that delivers as powerful performance as the VG27WQ1B. It’s an upgrade over the bogus standard 1080p 60Hz display in two dimensions, supports varying refresh rates on PCs with Nvidia or AMD graphics cards, and has plenty of rave reviews online. For under £300, that sounds like a bargain.
The only real divisive point about this monitor is its curved screen. Some like curves (like me), others don’t, but most people haven’t tried it yet. I think it’s well worth the trip!
