The latest horror film based on a work by Stephen King has found the top spot. November ago, Organization Director Rob Savage has been announced to direct the adaptation of King’s short stories Boogeyman for Hulu. A few months later, the project has now found its two stars in the form of Yellow jacket breakthrough Sophie Thatcher and Birds of preyChris Messina’s.
Follow Limit line, Thatcher and Messina were involved in the 20th Century Studios project, which was originally developed under Fox, before Disney took over, and is now heading for a streaming release on Hulu. Before Savage is attached, A quiet place Screenwriters Scott Beck and Bryan Woods were originally assigned to direct.
Boogeyman Based on the story of the same name in King’s collection of short stories Night shift, first published in 1978. This is the 10th story (out of 20) in the anthology to be brought to the screen, with other examples including Overdrive max, Bap’s children and line 2021 Chapelthwaite.
No character or plot details have been confirmed for the movie version yet, but we can make educated guesses based on King’s original work. The short film follows a teenage girl and her younger brother, reeling from the tragic death of their mother, who is terrorized by the eponymous Boogeyman in their home, all while struggling to convince their grieving father about the truth before it’s too late.
Presumably, Thatcher is playing the teenage daughter, with Messina as the father. No other actors have been announced at this time. British actress Thatcher – known for her role as young Natalie in the aforementioned Showtime hit – was most recently featured in an episode of Disney Plus’ Books by Boba Fett. As for Messina, he has two other movies on the way: drama Call Jane and sci-fi movies ISS.
As produced by Strange things‘Shawn Levy through his label 21 Laps Productions, Boogeyman scheduled to start shooting next month.
