Windjammers 2 will be Xbox Game Pass day one
Windjammers 2 developer Dotemu announced that the competitive discus game will be available on Xbox One and Xbox Game Pass on day one.
What has become one of the biggest features of Xbox Game Pass is the constant introduction of new games. Those aren’t just Xbox first-party games, but third-party releases of all shapes and sizes. The latest example is the competitive discus game Windjammers 2. After many delays, the push Windjammers 2Initial launch time all the way from 2019 to at least 2021, Windjammers 2 now confirmed as a launch game for Xbox Game Pass.
The announcement came in conjunction with Xbox and Dotemu, with Dotemu’s head of marketing, Arnaud De Sousa, sharing the news in a lengthy news post on Xbox’s website. Its long and short are Windjammers 2 Now confirmed for Xbox Game Pass on both PC and Xbox console. Moreover, it will launch in a day, which means it will be free Xbox Game Pass Subscribers as soon as Windjammers 2 released – whenever possible.
De Sousa also took the opportunity to confirm that Windjammers 2 will support cross-platform play between PC and Xbox when it comes out. It’s not just cross-play between Xbox Game Pass users, but it also fully supports PC players whether they buy the game on Steam, the Microsoft Store, or download it via Game Pass. Prepare for a discussion between whether controller or keyboard + mouse users have an innate advantage in Windjammers 2.
It should be noted that Windjammers 2 has also previously been announced for other platforms. It is confirmed for PlayStation, as well as Nintendo Switch and Stadia. There was even an open beta held in August exclusively for PC and PlayStation consoles. It is unclear if any of Dotemu’s publishing plans have changed, but there is no reason to believe so at this time. Dotemu has also not confirmed cross-play for other devices.
When Windjammers 2 As a small project overall, it has the potential for unexpected success. Original Wind jacket is still played competitively by groups in the fighting game community due to its strategic depth. Windjammers 2 is relying on that competitive niche and will provide an online ranking mode with netcode recovery.
All that remains for Dotemu to do is map out its remaining development schedule for Windjammers 2 so it can let fans know when the game will be available. Apparently, after such frequent delays, Dotemu be wary of providing a release date without knowing for sure when the game will be ready. That could mean 2021 without a doubt, or it could be a surprise release coming. Windjammers 2 coming out more than ever.
