Wimbledon 2022: Where is Sue Barker?

Tennis player became a TV presenter Sue Barker left fans disappointed when she announced she would be presenting the BBC’s coverage Wimbledon for the last time in 2022.

So if the BBC Coverage of the prestigious tennis tournament began on Monday, June 27th. People expected Barker to lead the reporting – but got confused when she didn’t show up.

Instead, ex-cricketer Isa Guha took on the role of main presenter.

So where is Sue Barker, will she present 2022 Wimbledon coverage and when does she retire?

The 2022 Wimbledon tournament got underway on Monday 27 June but Barker did not appear on our screens when BBC coverage began.

Barker has been the main face of the BBC’s Wimbledon program for the past 30 years.

This left fans concerned that they may have already seen and not known Barker’s last appearance related to the annual tennis championship.

One took to Twitter to say: “Sue Barker is retiring after this year’s Wimbledon right?”

Barker’s absence came after she was close to tears during last week’s Queen’s tournament.

She interviewed Queen’s Champion Matteo Berretini when he paid her tribute and surprised her.

He said: “I just want to congratulate you on your career. I heard it will be your last queen and your last Wimbledon so good luck for the rest of your beautiful life and congratulations.”

A visibly emotional Barker then said, “I’m bubbly now, oh dear.”

Yes, fans of Barker needn’t worry as she will be back on our screens.

She has previously presented during morning games, but this year she will start her shift in the afternoon and accompany tennis fans until the end of the game.

Sue Barker is a sports television host and former professional tennis player.

She became a professional tennis player in 1973 and retired in 1984. In 1993 she began presenting the BBC’s Wimbledon coverage.

During her tennis career, she won 15 WTA Tour singles titles, including a Grand Slam singles title at the 1976 French Open.

She achieved a career-high world No. 3 singles ranking.

She is currently a sports presenter for the BBC, most notably presenting coverage of the Wimbledon tennis championships.

Barker is 66 years old. She was born on April 19, 1956.

In 1988, Sue married landscaper and former police officer Lance Tankard.

The two met in Portugal in the early ’80s, where Sue was working as a tennis coach and Lance was on vacation.

When they returned to England, the two met by chance over dinner and later began dating.

No, Sue Barker has no children.

Sue Barker will retire next month after announcing earlier this year that this year’s Wimbledon would be her last.

Barker will officially retire after the men’s Wimbledon final, which takes place in July.

Speaking about her retirement, she said “the time is right.”

“Basically, I just have the feeling that the time is right. It was my dream job and I loved every minute of it working with so many great colleagues who I will miss so much.

“When I started, I never thought I would make it to 30 years. Actually, I had planned to stop in 2017 because the working hours became very long and quite challenging.

“It would have been 25 years and seemed like a good time but I’m so glad I made the decision to move on.

“I’m very glad to be leaving with no regrets and on my own terms while still at the top of the job. It just feels like the right time to go and let others do it.”
