Wild Rift voice chat will return in Patch 3.0

One of the most requested features in League of Legends: Wild Rift, the Voice Chat function, will be added soon in the upcoming Patch 3.0 update. However, this feature will only be released in the Americas region for the time being. Other regions will get the voice chat feature once the developers have tested it with no issues appearing. Through a short blog post, the developers revealed why Wild Rift voice chat was suddenly removed from the game a few days after it was released. The voice chat feature led to a series of issues that disrupted the game and forced the developers to temporarily disable it.

Riot Games developer explains what happened to the voice chat feature in Wild Rift

Wild Rift’s Head of Communications, Ben Forbes, answered one of the most frequently asked questions from fans. Through a blog post, the developer has revealed that the voice chat feature has been removed due to bugs and glitches in the game and that the feature is likely to return in Patch 3.0 for testing but only for the Americas region.

“If we see more problems, we’ll get it back to the lab before it’s released to the rest of the world,” he said. Ben Forbes spoke.

According to the developer, when Wild Rift voice chat was released back in patch 2.4, players noticed performance and audio issues that disrupted gameplay. Due to the progress of patches, the developers did not have time to release a fix for this issue, resulting in voice chat being disabled until it was ready for deployment.

“As the next major release is not far away, we don’t have time to add any feature changes before the Patch 2.5 deadline.” Ben Forbes spoke.

During the Patch 2.6 cycle, the developers discovered another issue related to the Wild Rift voice chat feature. The issue applies to players who have updated to the recent Android 12 OS update, where even when the player is on mute, the interface still shows that the player’s microphone is active . This resulted in the feature being taken down again for further testing.

New and improved voice chat feature will be added in Wild Rift Patch 3.0 soon. This feature will only be available for at least two weeks in the Americas region. If testing goes well, voice chat will then be released globally. Fans will have to wait for the upcoming Wild Rift Patch 3.0 preview for more.

While players can choose to use Discord as a means of communicating in Wild Rift, it’s still very convenient to have an in-game voice chat feature where all players can seamlessly communicate in-game .
