Wild Bay Area police chase that began in Sonoma County ends in Oakland after man flees car, tries to run away

OAKLAND, California (KGO) – A man is in custody following a wild chase that began in Sonoma County and ended in West Oakland on Tuesday.

SKY7 pursued the chase as it neared its end, at one point, the truck’s tail nearly falling off and dragging on the ground.

The driver also nearly hit a cyclist as he turned a corner and shortly afterwards pulled over and got out of the truck.

He jogged towards an intersection but turned to see a police car. He then ran back to the truck but officers were able to detain him.

The California Highway Patrol told ABC7 News that the man was initially hit by speeding in Sonoma County.

He stopped but sped up before the officer could score him a ticket.
