Why did Frodo decide to go to the land of immortals?

After all, the fellowship in Lord of the Rings endured together, some in the audience unsure how Frodo was able to leave them behind. Although Frodo was devoted to them as well, he had to put the happiness of the whole world before his own and decided now to do what was best for him. Of course, there was a list of reasons why Frodo finally decided to say goodbye to Middle-earth and hello to the Land of Immortals. Of course, leaving one’s home forever is not a decision one makes lightly.

First, it is important to note that, at the end of the Return of the kingFrodo and Bilbo went there, with Gandalf, Galadriel, and Elrond. This allows them to enter the Safe Land of the Immortals, where they were granted only because they carried the ring for the sake of Middle-earth.

On the other side, Galadriel, Elrond and Gandalf were returning there for their final rest after completing their quest. Elrond is returning to his true self. Galadriel existed in Middle-earth during his exile, and Gandalf was sent there with the aim of ending Sauron. After Sauron was defeated, both were allowed to return, both play an important role in his death.

It is also important to point out that the Land of Immortals is not a place that grants immortality, but that immortal beings choose to live there. So Bilbo and Frodo did not go there to gain immortality, but to live out the rest of their days in divine peace. However, this is the reason that holy beings are separated from the mortals of this world.

At one point, the men (tempted by Sauron) wanted the immortality of things that exist in the Land of the Immortals– assuming that the power came from the land itself – and they attacked it. This is what led to the continents being divided and the gods of the Immortal Lands being separated from the evil creatures of Middle-earth. This is also why mortals were not allowed in the Land of Immortals in the first place.

Frodo, allowed to go, decided to take a chance for a number of reasons. Considering Frodo’s personality from the moment fans met him, it actually makes perfect sense for him to decide to leave the Shire behind and live the rest of his days through a new adventure.

Since the time Frodo was introduced in The fellowship of the ring With Gandalf coming to town, it was clear that he was fascinated by stories of adventure. It is clear that it is quite early for Frodo to want to go on a journey of his own, which, in addition to his being Bilbo’s relative, makes him a good candidate to bear the ring. Even among the burdens of the journey as he carries it, he does not cease to marvel at new experiences along the way. With that said, it’s no surprise that Frodo would then long for a less dangerous adventure, give him time to enjoy new experiences.

Frodo’s injury may also have played a role in his decision to leave. As he was finalizing his addition to Bilbo’s Red Book, Sam entered and Frodo commented on how his wound from the King of Nazgul’s blade never fully healed. He is clearly still experiencing pain from his old injury, which was probably the final deciding factor in his decision. The Land of the Immortals is known to possess healing powers not found in Middle-earth, making it the most reliable means of getting rid of his physical pain.

His obligations to Bilbo Perhaps it was also a reason he decided to make the journey, just as he was an important factor in why Frodo chose to go through with the ring. Frodo has always admired Bilbo, if not as a hero. The stories of his adventures were what first sparked Frodo’s interest in the world beyond the Shire. Furthermore, Bilbo is the closest remaining relative of Frodo, they are close cousins. Frodo has more than once witnessed how the ring contaminates parts of Bilbo’s mind and soul, and now he has experienced some of it himself, he might want Bilbo a chance to fight it somewhat before his life is over.

While it may not have been the driving factor in his choice, the greatest benefit to Frodo’s arrival in the Immortal Lands was the mental peace and healing it brought him. It’s clear through the trilogy’s narrative that Frodo has endured a lot of trauma and trust issues throughout his mission. He is regularly exposed for long periods of time to dark creatures – and friends – that threaten to corrupt or destroy him. Then the promise of a the land where only good and holy things exist, literally, sounds like Heaven to Frodo. Regardless of what pushed him to his choice, it was not easy for Frodo to leave the only home he had ever known and his friends and family. This was definitely a decision he considered for a long time before making his choice.

The audience was certainly saddened when Frodo parted with the Hobbits who had accompanied him on his adventures, and many questioned how he and Sam could bear to part. Fans can find comfort in knowing that there’s a chance two friends living together were reunited. What the movies don’t show is that Samwise later traveled with Gimli and Legolas to the Immortal Lands, as recorded in the Westmarch’s Red Book by Sam’s daughter, Eleanor. It’s never been confirmed for sure if Sam will make it in Frodo’s lifetime or if he actually does, but fans can be hopeful.

Frodo has certainly found peace in his final days but the friendship there together will be real make it feel like heaven. Regardless of that relationship Lord of the Rings whether the fans who come to love will ever be reunited or not, surely they all deserve a peaceful ending in the Land of Immortals. Whether in their lives on Earth or in the later kingdom, the members of the fellowship will always be connected, which is definitely what made this story such a fan base. with equal devotion.
