Whoopi Goldberg returns to ‘The View’ after a hiatus (VIDEO)

Whoopi Goldberg has returned See after a suspension for two weeks.
She rejoined the talk show on February 14, opening with “Yes, I’m back. I have to tell you, there’s something amazing about being on a show like this because we See and this is what we do and sometimes we don’t do this as elegantly as we could. It only takes five minutes to get important information on topics and that’s what we strive to do every day. I would like to thank everyone who contacted me while I was away. “
Goldberg continued, “That was amazing, I listened to everything everyone had to say and I am so grateful and I hope it keeps all the important conversations going because we will continue to have difficult conversations and partly because this is what we’ve been hired to do and it’s not always as pretty as I said and it’s not always what other people want to hear , but it’s an honor to sit at this table and be able to have conversations because they’re important. They are important to us as a nation and more to us as a human entity. Watch the video below for her full opening.

Goldberg’s suspension comes after the comments she made about the Holocaust in the Monday, January 31 episode of See. In a discussion about a school banning the graphic novel Maus from the Holocaust curriculum, she said, “The Holocaust isn’t about race – it’s about human inhumanity towards humans. “
That night, Goldberg posted the following statement on his social media: “On today’s show, I said the Holocaust ‘is not about race, it’s about the inhumanity of man to man.’ I should say it is about both. As Jonathan Greenblatt from the Anti-Defamation League shared, ‘The Holocaust was about the systematic extermination of the Jews by the Nazis, whom they considered an inferior race.’ I stand to correct. Jews around the world have always supported me, and that will never waver. I apologize for the hurt I have caused.”
The following night, ABC News shared a statement from its president, Kim Godwin, that read: “Effective immediately, I will be suspending Whoopi Goldberg for two weeks for false comments and hurt her. While Whoopi has apologized, I have asked her to take time to think and learn about the impact of her comments. “
Goldberg’s absence was only briefly addressed on screen during the February 2 show, with co-host Joy Behar admitted that she would return in two weeks.
