As explained by Geralt, Voleth Meir is a demon that has existed ever since Combination of spheres. She was one of the biggest threats to the Continent, so the first Witches locked her in a hut for eternity. However, Voleth Meir still use telepathy to feed the pain, hatred, and despair of others.

Voleth Meir promises to regain Yennefer’s powers if she brings Ciri to Cintra. However, Yennefer had a change of heart as soon as she saw the true potential in Ciri and realized how important she was to Geralt. But in the end it didn’t matter because Death feeds himself with enough pain and hatred.

She has the strength to break free from captivity after nurturing Francesca’s grief over the loss of her child. Immediately after exiting the hut, Voleth Meir possess Ciri and use her body to kill some Witchers in Kaer Morhen. In the end, Geralt realized that Voleth Meir is cultivating the hatred of the Witchers to become stronger. So the Witches stopped fighting and simply called out Ciri’s name asking her to regain control of her body.

Meanwhile, Yennefer provided her body to Voleth Meir in a brief moment. However, Ciri opens a portal to the world of Wild Hunt, where Voleth Meir leave Yennefer’s body and join a rider of Wild Hunting.
