Where to watch ‘Driving my car’

Based on a short story by Norwegian wood author Haruki Murakami, the movie–that Japan sent as entries for the Oscars 2022–takes viewers on a journey of mourning, maturity and emotional intimacy.
Drive my car tells the story of widowed actor Yusuke Kafuku (Hidetoshi Nishijima) as he takes a job as a director at a theater festival in Hiroshima, two years after his wife’s death. Drive my car details the relationship between the elderly actor and the 20-year-old driver (Tôko Miura), whom, at the festival’s request, Yusuke reluctantly allows him to drive his beloved red Saab. Also facing her own pain, she helps him uncover the truth from Yusuke’s past and the complicated mysteries left behind by his wife.
The film has received rave reviews since it premiered at this year’s film festival, taking home the Cannes Best Screenplay award, and earning a new certification on the web.
