Where to get the Whetstone Knife and use the Ashe of War in the Elden Ring

If you’re wondering how you can use the Ashes of War you’ve collected so far, you need the Whetstone Knife to activate them in the Elden Ring.

Besides the variety of weapons and equipment that you can discover Elden Ring, there are also plenty of ways to improve them or learn new moves and attacks. Applying Ash of War on your weapon is one of the ways to improve its usability and learn more attacks and damaging blows for a certain weapon.

However, you cannot use Ash of War on equipped weapons until you have obtained the Whetstone Knife. Ane here is how to get it!

Where to get Whetstone Knife in Elden Ring

Whetstone Knife is located in Limgrave to the east of the Gatefront Site of Grace. There is an underground path in the Gatefront Ruins. When you go down the stairs, you will discover a door. Open it, and you’ll find a chest inside. When you open the chest, you will receive the Ash of War as well as the Whetstone Knife.

How to use Ash of War

Go and rest at a Place of Grace. You should be able to spot a new option now called Ash of War. Select it, and then select the weapon you want to apply Ash of War to. Keep in mind that some Ashes of War are specific to certain weapons and cannot be used on all weapons.

You can always use Shift + RMB on your PC to perform the applied Ash of War move to your right or left hand weapon.
