Along with rebalancing some cards, the format will have everything as Standard, but it will include some new digital-only cards and mechanics that will create MTGA a completely unique experience compared to countertops MTG.
The new format — and the boosters associated with it — will be released on December 9.
Along with the new format, there will be more incentives and nerfs for cards whenever they are specifically used within the format. In other formats, the tag will work as it should.
Enhancement packs for Alchemy will be on sale in MTGA hoard 1,000 taels of gold. Players can also get 15 packs for 3,000 gems. These prices are identical to what players pay for Standard suite booster packs today.
In addition, players will be able to get a bundle created specifically for the new format. The pack will have 20 Alchemy boosters and cost 3,000 gems or 15,000 gold. For comparison, 3,000 gems is the cost of two Draft events. That gold is worth one and a half times the Draft event. So if you’re trying to get the most value out of your Alchemy plan, you might want to start saving up gold for next week.
