Here’s everything you need to know about Springwatch’s return this year.

Why is?

Springwatch is a nature program that offers a thoughtful look at the environment. This series is set to take a special look at puffins and wild boar, while Chris Packham has promised to champion various invertebrate species.

Live segments are interspersed with recorded film, including a tour of the North of England by Megan McCubbin and an exploration of the Isle of Mull by Iolo Williams.

Chris Packham and Michaela Strachan are hosting Springwatch 2022, as they have been doing for many years. They were last seen hosting Winterwatch earlier this year.

They are joined by non-rhyming hosts Iolo Williams (who specializes in ornithology) and Megan McCubbin (a zoologist).

Will Gillian Burke return?

Regular Springwatch presenter Gillian Burke, who joined the program in 2017, will not be presenting the 2022 edition of the program.

Burke was also absent from Winterwatch earlier in the year, which the BBC attributed to personal reasons. Chris Packham has explained that Burke was unable to arrange filming dates due to other production commitments, but said they all hope she will return for Autumnwatch later this year.

Where is Springwatch filmed?

Chris Packham and Michaela Strachan will present from Wild Ken Hill in Norfolk while Iolo Williams will present again from the Isle of Mull.

Megan McCubbin’s segments of Springwatch are filmed on Coquet Island, just off the Northumberland coast. Coquet Island is home to a number of puffins, which will be the focus of Springwatch this year.

She will also visit an allotment site in Newcastle city center where foxes live and hedgehogs thrive.

How can I view it?

Springwatch begins Monday 30 May at 8pm on BBC Two. A new episode will be broadcast live every day at 8 p.m. from Monday to Thursday for three weeks.
