Nvidia announced a new budget GPU, the desktop variant of the RTX 3050, at CES 2022 today. This budget-friendly GPU will be built on the Ampere architecture and will feature ray tracing and DLSS upscaling for gamers to enjoy, all on top of 8GB of GDDR6 memory. The card will be released on January 27th for $249, which is $80 cheaper than the RTX 3060 at its retail price.
The only question left for gamers on a budget is where to buy one. The following retailers are generally the best places to go if you’re looking for a GPU at the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP), although finding any GPU at MSRP is one story unlikely in the current silicon shortage.
NewEgg isn’t immune to today’s market’s GPU disasters, but it does deliver Lottery to give everyday shoppers the chance to shop for highly sought-after products.
Best Buy has listings for different 30-series GPUs that are out of stock, but it will replenish them from time to time, with the last restocking being recorded late December 2021 around Christmas. If you’re unlucky to find the 3050 anywhere else, regularly checking Best Buy isn’t a bad strategy to snag one.
Where there are popular products, there is Amazon. This retailer is the largest in the world and will have its own listing for the desktop RTX 3050. Be careful when searching for GPUs on this site; Lots of listings will have resellers marking the price up to extraordinary levels.
Overclockers have an unorthodox strategy of selling new GPUs that involves price marking above the surface to get rid of bots and scalers, only then offering great discounts for genuine customers discount back MSRP. Whether it will run the same crap for the 3050 desktop remains to be seen, but it’s still a retailer worth visiting for a chance to buy a GPU.
Walmart provides a full list of 30-series graphics cards in its inventory but also lists GPUs sold by independent sellers. The same will be true for the 3050 cards: get tired of overpriced GPUs searching through Walmart and aim to hit the ones listed at MSRP.
