Wheat, paddy procurement at all-time high: Government

About 49.14 Lakh farmers have benefited from the ongoing RMS procurement work with an MSP value of Rs 85,581.35 crore, the ministry said in a statement.
In addition, 869.76LMT of paddy was tendered on the MSP for the ongoing KMS 2020-21 and the RMS benefited 128.37 Lakh farmers. This number is 14.55% more than the same period last year. Government agencies also bid a total of 10,49,575,80 tons of Pulse and Oilseeds on the MSP.
About 128.37 Lakh farmers have benefited from the ongoing KMS Procurement Activity with an MSP of Rs. 1.64.211.54 crore.
Government through Nodal Agencies purchased 10,49,575.80 MT of Moong, Urad, Tur, Gram, Masoor, Peanuts, Sunflower Seeds Mustard Seeds and Soybean with MSP value of Rs.5,662.82 Crores benefits 6,38,366 farmers in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Haryana, Odisha and Rajasthan under Kharif 2020-21 and Rabi 2021 and Summer 2021.
Approximately 5089 tons of copra (perennial) with an MSP value of Rs 2,52.40 were purchased benefiting 3961 farmers in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu during the 2020-21 crop season. For the 2021-22 season, a sanction for the purchase of 51000 tons of Copra from Tamil Nadu has been introduced, whereby the procurement will be commenced from the date determined by the state government.
