WI vs. AUS 2nd ODI LIVE: Second ODI suspended due to COVID case, Cricket Australia confirms
After a complete advantage in the T20 series, the winds blew against extraordinary speed and test length from Mitchell Stark and Josh Hazlwood as Australia recorded 133 runs over the host in the opening game, which reduced rain from one side to 49 overs.
The first Australian showed up to be the first to be beaten – Josh Philip, Ben McDermott and Wes Agar – and were able to put a good 252/9 result in the allotted overtime against Hayden Walsh (5-39). Skipper Alex Carey (67) and A Turner (49) were the best scorers for the visitors, while debutants Josh Philip (39) and Ben McDermott (28) managed 51 tackles for the first penalty. In response, the Vindy lost a penalty in the first inning and were quickly reduced to 27/6 before skipper K. Pollard scored fifty goals to revive the chase. However, Stark and Hazlwood hit again and eventually beat the hosts for 123 runs in 26.2 overtime. The duo of M Starc (5-48) and H Hazlewood (3-11) took 8 wickets together.
The Aussies lead a three-game series 1-0. The Winds, on the other hand, have no room for errors in the remaining two games and are looking for a bank in their T20I performance to go back and level the series.
