Watch the 2021 NFL MVP: Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers compete for the top spot to enter Week 13

We’ve made it through the first 12 weeks of the 2021 NFL season, which means it’s once again our weekly check-in in the MVP race. We’ll be using this space over the next few weeks to measure the temperature of our rotating expert panel, trying to get a feel for who’s leading, who’s in contention, who’s on the fringes, and how the teams are doing. That is changing from week to week.

Each of our experts was asked to submit their top five MVP rankings. Five points are awarded for a first place vote, four points for a second place vote, three points for a third place vote, two points for a fourth place vote and one point for a fourth place vote. voted in fifth place.

Right now, we’re in the midst of a two-horse race between two very familiar candidates. In a somewhat surprising turn of events, we also had a race back to the top 5 of the poll. This has been an extremely heavyweight award for the past few years, so it’s definitely an interesting note.

So who will be the winner?

Brady is both the current lead in our poll and a likely award-winning favorite. In Caesars Sportsbook, Brady is at +275, while Rodgers and Allen are behind him with +550, followed by Mahomes with +800, Prescott and Murray at +1200, and Jackson at +1400. Taylor is sitting at +2000 – same odds as Matthew Stafford, who dropped out of our poll this week in the context of Rams‘three consecutive losses.

Of course, a lot could change in the next few weeks. There are still six weeks left in the regular season, and many of these players’ teams play against each other in that time. The race at the top of the NFC seems to play a sizable role in the outcome of the MVP race. Brady, Rodgers, Murray and Prescott are all gems vying for the No. 1 seed in the tournament; any of them get it may be more valuable than the others.

If the captains carry on with the game they seem to be about to say goodbye to, Mahomes may have a shot to jump up the rankings, but it’s worth noting that their winning streak has been largely driven by defense and only had a really good offensive performance. throw in. The Bills appear to be back on track by Thanksgiving, and if they can beat the Patriots twice in the next three weeks and really take control of the division while Allen performs well against Bill Belichick’s defense, chances are His victory will likely significantly also increase.

If Jackson cuts sales and puts Raven as the No. 1 seed at the AFC, he’ll have a real chance of winning. I know Taylor has placed high on this poll, but I find it extremely hard to believe that a runner in the end will actually win the award.
