Though Seattle came in with the NFL’s worst offense in terms of yardage and down conversion rate third, Washington’s defense further exposed the Seahawks. Fullback William Jackson III, lined up to confront Lockett at the boundary of the script, seemed to think it was safe for Bobby McCain to catch the wide receiver as he crossed midfield. But McCain refused, leaving Lockett open.
