Call of Duty: Warzone Season 1 is arguably the biggest update the battle royale game has ever seen. While it is adding a lot to the game, the new map Caldera is easily the most exciting addition – although Call of Duty: Warzone Fans have received some conflicting views on its design.

Caldera will release on December 8, takes the player to a Pacific Island where the number of buildings will be limited – although a large resort and a theater feature. The map will include rivers and huts along with aerial combat, with planes never seen before Caldera’s launch. However, those flying in the sky and fighting below may have a bit less space in certain areas than originally planned, as the design of the map seems to have changed. change during development.

Through The Secret of the Pacific Incident, players had a different view of Caldera. However, as shown by @ModernWarzone, the original map layout is a bit different from Caldera’s final design. In The Secret of the Pacific, Caldera has great rivers moving inland from three points in the center of the map. It also has a unique pointed shape in the top left corner. However, the final version seems to have been cut down a bit, with the rivers significantly shortened and the NW corner of the map removed. The west side of the map also appears to be smaller, as part of the island that juts out has disappeared.

Because of these dramatic changes, @ModernWarzone believes the island may have been reduced in size during development. While this is possible, its shape could have simply changed, with Raven Software keeping the same scale but cleaning up the island to make its overall shape easier to see. From two pictures, can’t say if Call of Duty: Warzone fan will see a smaller map than originally expected, but what is clear is that its layout will be different.

Even if Caldera ends up being a bit smaller, it will still be a big map on par with Verdansk in terms of its size. Furthermore, it’s likely that a slightly smaller map could be better played, given the long downtime where players run around looking for enemies to be shortened. Regardless of its new look, Caldera looks like an interesting place with some memorable sights like a volcano and a submarine base.

With Ricochet anti-cheat system drop along the Caldera, as well as integrate with Call of Duty: Vanguard, there’s a lot to be excited about coming to Season 1. No matter how it ends, hopefully Caldera will live up to expectations.

Call of Duty: Warzone currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
