Warzone players are requesting the removal of the Hunter power-up

Some Call of Duty: Warzone players are requesting that the game’s Hunter perk, which was added in the recent Cursed Ground event, be removed.

With the start of Call of Duty: Warzone Season 4, the battle royale’s Fortune’s Keep map turned into the cursed ground. The Cursed Ground added many changes Call of Duty: Warzone, some of which have been better received than others. One of the additions in the war zone Event was the return of the hunter perk found in cursed chests that open after defeating the associated zombies. This benefit has caused some frustration for some war zone Players who want the Hunter perk removed.

GAMERANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

A post recently shared on the Call of Duty: Warzone subreddit has accurately captured player frustrations regarding the Hunter Perk. The first half of the shared video shows a player and his team being completely obliterated by a lone player aggressively climbing through a window. The player can quickly aim and kill the squad as if they knew where each player was before they jumped through the window. The truth is the aggressiveness war zone player did.

In the second half of the video, the kill cam shows exactly what the winner is Call of Duty: Warzone Players seen before climbing through the window. Due to the Hunter perk, the player could see the outline of each player in the room before climbing inside. As a result, they were able to effectively shoot out their enemies before they even realized what had happened. It is an officially sanctioned wallhack.

To be fair Call of Duty: Warzone Developers, the Hunter Perk requires some settings. Players have to kill a bunch of Cursed Ground zombies to earn it, so it’s a earned perk. Also, the perk doesn’t last forever, so this player just capitalized on his accomplishment. However, it is undeniably very strong and arguably unfair.

What matters is how much tolerance Call of Duty: Warzone‘s developers and players have intentionally unbalanced strength for this type of game. It’s essentially the same idea as looting. Those who loot more or defeat more players have a greater chance of finding stronger loot. Completing a Cursed Ground chest offers a chance for stronger rewards. Battle royale players are always fighting for an edge, but there’s a significant amount of opportunity to be won.

Perhaps a better question isn’t whether the Hunter Perk grants an unfair advantage, but whether it’s fun. In the video clip, those killed by the player with the Hunter perk certainly weren’t having fun. Hopefully that’s something Call of Duty: Warzone‘s developers take this into account when deciding whether to bring the perk back in the future.

Call of Duty: Warzone is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
