War Sandbox Myth Of Empires game removed from Steam after DMCA takedown

Angela Game’s Myth of Empires describes itself as a “multiplayer war sandbox game”, combining elements of survival and large-scale warfare. Although I have not played it myself, it looks attractive from a Conqueror’s Blade (and sometimes a Mount & Blade player), and I look forward to following its progress during early access.

I say “looked” and “had”, because the game was removed from Steam a few days ago. The reason for this was presented in a short post today on the Myth of Empires page:

A few days ago, Steam received allegations of suspected copyright infringement related to Myth of Empires and under the DMCA and to relieve liability, has temporarily removed Myth of Empires from its store. Our development team solemnly declares: Angela Game fully owns all rights and properties related to Myth of Empires and will actively respond to any doubts or allegations on this point. We are in active contact with Steam and are doing our best to restore the game to their store. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused players.

In short, a rumor started circulating that the DMCA request had been made by Conqueror’s Blade, either through developer Booming Tech or publisher My.Games. Two companies have refute these allegations and if this Reddit post Believe it or not, it seems someone on the Myth of Empires team confirmed that review, stating that Conqueror’s Blade “has nothing to do with this and I will not allow them or their studio to purposefully harass you.” .” CB has received a lot of negative reviews (34 vs. 11 positive) On steam in the past few days.

We won’t speculate who might have submitted a DMCA request – there are tons of possible medieval sandbox/survival/war titles – but here’s hoping for a quick resolution to the situation and Myth of Empires may be made available back to players in the near future.
