Virtus Pro signs yamich from Winstrike Team, names gpk captain for 2022 DPC roster

Virtus.pro has perfected its revamp Dota 2 list for 2022 Dota Pro Circuit today, signed former Team Winstrike support player Daniyal “yamich” Lazebnyy and named Danil “gpk” Skutin as the team’s new captain.

At just 20 years old, yamich fits into the timeline for the rest of the VP squad, with Dmitry “DM” Dorokhin being the oldest player at 21. He comes in and will replace Vitalie “Save-” Melnic , whose team has moved to the inactive roster alongside Egor “Nightfall” Grigorenko early this week.

“We are constantly monitoring promising young players. Daniyal has shown consistent progress over the past few years,” said VP CEO Sergey Glamazda. “That’s why when we were faced with the need for a roster change, his candidate was put forward.”

According to Gluazda, after internal discussions resulted in Save- and Nightfall being removed from their seats, the organization decided to put Yamich in a number of test games to see how he could fit into the team.

Winstrike agreed to allow the test run and the yamich worked well, which resulted in VP buying his contract with the old team and signing him to complete his own roster.

“In the test games, the yamich did a phenomenal job,” says Gluazda. “He took the initiative and the whole team really enjoyed playing with him. On top of that, he’s not a rookie in the pro scene, has good mechanical skills and suits our team’s playstyle. ”

Yamich is a fairly experienced youngster in Eastern Europe, having had plenty of time with Winstrike after an initial trial for the organization at the end of 2018.

He’s been in the organizations for a while, playing on The Pango and Khan before returning to Winstrike for the DPC in 2021. During that time, Winstrike has performed well, but bounces back and forth between regional leagues. superiors and juniors, ultimately failing to qualify for The International 10 through the open qualifiers.

As for VP, the team performed well throughout DPC 2021, undefeated through both regional tournaments, attending both Majors, and directly qualifying for TI10 despite sub-performances at the Majors. . The final team will leave their first TI in fifth place, holding the organization’s top spot at the event.

With the last player locked, VP has kicked off the warm-up for the upcoming 2022 DPC Winter League, where the team will look to continue to dominate the regular season.

Meanwhile, Nightfall and Save- remain on the team’s inactive list for the time being. Though Nightfall is still rumored to be joining Evil Geniuses after the North American team begins its own experiment.
