Virtual reality video shows what happens when you fall into a black hole

A French visual effects artist has created an incredible virtual reality video that allows viewers to experience what falling into a black hole looks like.
Virtual reality allows users to enter an infinite number of worlds limited only by the creator’s imagination and the hardware that powers it. It can allow users to immerse themselves almost completely in epic adventures, fantasy worlds, and even a simulated bar fight, not to mention discovering the depths of space from the comfort and safety of their living room.
For example, no one alive today has the ability to see a black hole with the naked eye. All things considered, they might not want to get close to a giant vortex that has overwhelming gravity. However, a virtual reality The video allows viewers to plunge straight into the event horizon without their atoms being compressed into an infinitely small mass of matter.
French visual effects artist Alessandro Roussel created the video to show everyone what it’s like to fall into a black hole. See it in virtual reality Give the viewer the sensation of falling through a spiraling blue-white tunnel of light that leads to a black hole in front of you. Looking up, down, or to the side will see a stellar field slowly curve upward as the viewer approaches the black hole’s event horizon. Even without a VR headset, 360° video is really impressive to watch.
Roussel’s video is just two minutes long and has no interactivity other than the ability to rotate the full 360° view in any direction. For those who don’t know, black holes are extremely dense remnants of stars that have reached the end of their natural lives. Stars generate heat and light from fusing hydrogen atoms in their cores. After billions of years, stars consume all available fuel and collapse violently under their own extreme gravity, often resulting in a massive explosion called a supernova. The largest of these dead stars collapses into a sphere of matter so heavy and dense that not even light can escape its gravity.
Interestingly, physicists believe that humans could theoretically survive falling into a black hole under the right circumstances. It is believed that if the black hole were large and isolated, someone could pass through the event horizon without falling into its super-compressed core. But of course, it will be significantly more difficult to get out and they won’t be able to send back any messages about how it was.
