Naturally, one of the big topics on the table was determining whether Daredevil is canon for MCU, the actor said, “They are trying their best to keep Daredevil as part of a classic… [however] It won’t always be 100%. There are so many connections between the dots that Marvel is really good at. However, he has confessed that he plays Wilson Fisk exactly the same way he did 4 years ago. Talk about Kingpin’s fate in Hawk Eye, D’Onofrio pointed to Marvel Comics as the source for a moment he considers highly emotional to define his character’s relationship with his niece, Maya Lopez.

Kingpin's death in Hawkeye

In fact, D’Onofrio went even further to address one particular fan theory floating around the claim Kingpin survives encounter with Echo, saying that he “read that in the research I did initially Daredevil. I think I’ve read almost every match that Kingpin has been in. “D’Onofrio added that he finds the father-son pair dynamic great. A blind Kingpin, who – in the comics – loses his sight after narrowly escaping death when shot by Maya.

The actor also addressed some issues unrelated to the MCU’s plot, such as his involvement in choosing Kingpin’s new wardrobe, now complete with a stick from the comics plus new splashes of color and floral prints to complement his everyday look. D’Onofrio also said he’s happy to help Marvel Studios keep his participation in Hawk Eye a secret because he had to wear a black cape and hood on set and it made him feel “like Darth Vader.”

One thing to note, however, is that D’Onofrio states that “Kingpin’s physical strength is definitely different. It’s bigger and some might say better. More like in the comics.” So unless Daredevil Powered up as well, Matt and Echo might have a hard time defeating Fisk as Kate Bishop can somehow do through her sheer trickery, but of course, that’s in your case.
