Video shows the moment the house exploded in Missouri

O’FALLON, Mo. (KTVI) – A nearby security camera captured the moment a home in O’Fallon, Missouri was razed in an explosion just before noon Tuesday.

According to officials with Spire, a public utility company in St. Contractor immediately contacted Spire and the O’Fallon Fire Department. They worked with police to evacuate nearby residents just before 11:43 a.m. when the house exploded.

“We got a call around 10:30 to a line that was hacked and so when we were working with Spire, they didn’t like what they were seeing. So we went door-to-door to evacuate people,” said assistant chief Andy Parrish of the O’Fallon Fire District.

Surprisingly, no one was injured in the explosion. Spire employees released gas from homes near the house that exploded.

“Luckily no one was in the house when it exploded. We are not aware of any injuries,” O’Fallon Police said. Tony Michalka. “It’s extraordinary. We’re very lucky because it only involved property and there was no loss of life.”

O’Fallon Fire County officials said it’s a reminder for anyone in the event someone smells gas and calls authorities.

In total, nineteen homes were left without service in the vicinity for several hours while crews worked to repair the line.
