New York Times reporter Stephanie Nolen, who was on one of the planes, said that despite the wearing of masks by Dutch airline KLM, which operates flights from South Africa, many passengers do not wear a face covering. The passengers were stuck on the airport runway for about four hours before being taken to bandages, tweeted Nolen, who later said she tested negative.
