Valorant patch 4.01 nerfs Ares and updated melee attacks

It’s been over a week since Valuable substance embark on a new chapter with Episode 4 and one New game director in a leadership position. Patch 4.0 introduced Lightning-fuelled accelerator agent, Neon. Plus, it’s made some significant changes to a number of weapons. Now, Valuable substance patch 4.01 is here to reduce the tame Ares changes, as well as implement a few other new features.
If you want to see the complete patch notes for 4.01, you can do so here. The main changes are the Ares nerf, improved melee attacks, and the addition of the Muted Word List.
Valuable substance change patch 4.01
Let’s start with the most important update, Ares. In patch 4.0, the weapon’s launch time was removed. It makes Ares extremely powerful given its low price point. To combat this, Riot Games increased the price of the gun from 1,550 to 1,600 Credits. Plus, it made the weapon harder to control when sprayed. Ares’ recoil has also been increased. Its spread will now only decrease after 13 rounds, as opposed to the previous bullet of 10. And the benefit of crouching spread and recoil control has been reduced from 40% to 25%.
Melee attacks are unreliable in Valuable substance since its launch. Riot was supposed to release a fix for this in patch 4.0 but decided to wait until patch 4.01 for some unclear reason. With this improvement, right-click melee attacks now have 50% larger hit boxes, and left-click melee attacks are even bigger.
As for the Muted Words List, here’s a new section of your settings that lets you choose words that you don’t want to see written in Valuable substance. Riot will use data collected from all muted words across all lists to improve detection of bad words in its own game. The muted word list is another way the studio is trying to foster a healthy and respectable community.
