USA Tennis Star Coco Gauff pulls out due to Covid-19

Tokyo Olympics: More bad news for tennis fans in Tokyo and around the world, as 17-year-old Coco Gaufi will also join the Tokyo Games.

The only reason for such a withdrawal from the crowded schedule is due to the French Open and Wimbledon in conjunction with the ATP and WTA tours, which are in line with the quarantine under COVID-19 conditions in Japan.

Coco Gauf has been tested for Covid-19. She lost in the fourth round at Wimbledon earlier this month to Angelique Kerber 6-4, 6-4 at Center Card. This was the second time she had lost at that stage since her promotion to the All England Club in 2019.

Gauff is ranked No. 25 in the WTA.

We learned that Coco Gauf has been tested for COVID-19 and therefore will not be able to participate in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, we are saddened,A statement from the U.S. Tennis Association said.

We wish him all the best as he is dealing with this unfortunate situation and hopes to return to court soon. We know that Coco will join us all in rooting out other U.S. members who travel to Japan and compete in the coming days.
