Unbanned Pokimane on Twitch – Dot Esports

After serving a 48-hour ban, popular Twitch streamer Pokimane has unbanned her channel on the platform.

Pokimane has been banned late on Friday, January 7 following a stream related to the broadcasting of a TV show owned by Viacom CBS Avatar: The Last Airbender on her channel.

Twitch celebrities have recently started the trend of watching TV and movies on the platform despite the threat of being banned due to DMCA violations. While there are methods for streamers to watch with their audiences, broadcasting content via Twitch is copyright infringement.

Celebrities who have viewed copyrighted material on their channel in the past have begun removing VODs from their streams to avoid punishment. In Pokimane’s case, however, this was not enough to get out of the ban.

Pokimane’s ban has once again sparked conversation about Twitch’s DMCA policies, with some creators unsure whether or not they should stream this content to their viewers. Others fear that this type of content puts the entire platform at risk.

Some of the platform’s most popular creators have continued to engage in this activity despite recent bans. It’s still unclear what Twitch plans to do if this trend continues.

As usual, Twitch has not shared any information regarding Pokimane’s ban or about streamers broadcasting this content on their platform. It remains to be seen how long this practice will continue and whether Twitch will introduce further penalties for creators who violate its rules.
