UN extends Haiti political mission after US-China dispute

Haiti has been contending with the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse in July, a magnitude 7.2 earthquake that killed over 2,200 individuals and broken or destroyed tens of hundreds of properties in August, and escalating gang-related killings, kidnappings and turf wars. Final month, U.S. border patrol brokers’ remedy of Haitian migrants massed on the southern U.S. border sparked outrage.
