Max Holloway has been very proud of his claim to be the best fighter in the UFC. Last Saturday night, Holloway had to rely on more than boxing to survive five round fight with Yair Rodriguez in the main event of UFC Fight Night. Holloway, the former featherweight champion, secured a unanimous decision in one of the best fights of the year.

With the win, Holloway retains 2nd place in featherweight in the CBS Sports UFC Divisional Rankings, one place behind champion Alexander Volkanovski. That said, Holloway seemed to hint in his post-fight interview that he’s more interested in facing Dustin Poirier or Conor McGregor than pursuing a third fight with Volkanovski, who won both. previous meeting by strict decision.

Rodriguez’s impressive performance meant he didn’t slip up the charts. In fact, he rose one place to 4th place, the result of Zabit Magomedsharipov’s inactivity. Magomedsharipov has not competed in over two years and his MMA future is uncertain due to health concerns, which has resulted in him being dropped from the standings.

Saturday’s UFC Fight Night features two fights against CBS Sports ranked fighters.

  • Women’s middleweight: No. 9 Ketlen Vieira vs No. 10 Miesha Tate
  • Light-weight: Number 8 Michael Chiesa vs Sean Brady

The rankings were compiled after Brent Brookhouse, Brian Campbell and Brandon Wise submitted votes. Without further ado, this is where everything stands before Saturday’s card.
