Ubisoft Stealthily Shuts Down Servers on Legacy Consoles for Multiple Games

Those who tried to play many Ubisoft games on older consoles, especially the four Assassin’s Creed games on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, have found Ubisoft closes the server to them without much notice. Affected games include Assassin’s Creed II, III, Brotherhood and Revelations, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Which games have been affected by Ubisoft’s server closure?
As reported by TrueAchievements, online services for many of Ubisoft’s games have been closed indefinitely after multiple users on the studio’s forums reported that they were unable to earn Xbox Achievements for games. that too.
While Ubisoft has released a list of games that the publisher no longer supports, the list was last updated (at the time of this writing) on April 18, 2022, several members reported. that the servers for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Chess on Xbox 360 also dropped even though the game wasn’t on that list.
Initially, it was not clear why players were unable to connect to the online servers for these games, other than their respective Uplay accounts. It was suspected that it was just a bug, but when they informed Ubisoft about the issue, they received an official response stating that the online servers were indeed permanently closed.
According to the site’s aggregation, it appears that in addition to the four Assassin’s Creed games mentioned above, other Ubisoft games whose online servers have been stealthily closed include (but may not be limited to) Beyond Good and Evil, Blazing Angels 2, Far Cry 3, Rabbids: Alive and Kicking, and Smurfs 2. While TrueAchievements naturally focuses on the Xbox 360 aspect of the problem, the online server outage also affects PS3 and PC versions of those games, if available.
Still, the silent online server shutdown is surprising, as Ubisoft is known to have informed players, unambiguously and unequivocally, of any games that will be suspended. affected by any shutdown. For example, last year the publisher announced on its forums that the servers would be closed for a bunch of games (the forum post no longer exists, but its existence remains the same on Reddit).
In other news, the 1.12 update for Horizon Forbidden West fixed an issue that caused Aloy to get stuck in the bathroom in the game’s base, and a Nintendo Switch Online trial for Dragon Quest Builders 2 is now running.
