After the 9/11 terrorist assaults in opposition to the US, by which 67 British nationals have been killed, the U.Okay. despatched the second-largest contingent of forces to Afghanistan, deploying 150,000 navy personnel through the years. In all, 457 British troopers died. The U.Okay. ended its fight operations there in 2014. However some troops stayed on, together with British diplomats and contractors.
