Tyler Perry Explains Why He Retired Celebrity Madea

Tyler Perry is giving people what they want and bringing Madea back!

If you missed seeing Madea and her crazy antics, you’re in luck! As previously reported, Tyler Perry has partnered with Netflix to bring the 12th season of the Madea series ‘Tyler Perry’s A Madea Homecoming’ to your screens next month.

In a recent interview, Tyler Perry, 52, has revealed why he decided to return to the role of Madea after previously saying that he would be retiring the character following the 2019 release of ‘A Madea Family Fu tang’. He say,

“I’m looking at the state of the world and how polarized it is… no one is smiling. No one had a chance to burst out laughing anymore. And I wondered, ‘What tools do I have in my arsenal that can bring out such laughter?’

He continued and shared that returning to competition Madea felt “like wearing gloves” that he had worn before. Madea’s upcoming project revolves around a witty character’s college graduation and hidden family secrets that threaten to destroy a happy home. In his interview, Tyler Perry shared that part of the film will revolve around an LGBTQ storyline, which he hopes will send an inclusive message to viewers.

He added,

“How long does it take before you understand something? Even if you don’t understand, be open… I just think that if everything is accepted in love, then you will have a chance to see who they are instead of what you think. ”

The series will feature many beloved characters from the Madea series, including Cora (do Tamela J. Mann), Mr. Brown (played by David Mann), and Aunt Bam (do Cassi Davis).

Perry recently tweeted about his upcoming movie and said,

“HOMEGOING! Live from her backyard. I want to thank my incredible butterfly hive. MA-Chella. NETFLIX. COMING SOON.”

‘Tyler Perry’s A Madea Homecoming’ will premiere on Netflix on February 25.
