Two teenagers who disappeared 20 years ago, now this gruesome discovery raises more questions

On Wednesday, a man cracked a missing person case that went unsolved for more than two decades.

“I am an outdoor adventurer,” he said on his Facebook page, “Explore with Nug. “I love exploring rivers and creeks and making videos of my adventures.”
The most recent adventure he’s interested in is helping solve problems case of 18-year-old Erin Foster and 17-year-old Jeremy Bechtel, went missing on April 3, 2000, in Sparta, Tennessee, after visiting a friend’s home in Foster’s black 1998 Pontiac Grand Am.
On November 24, Sides posted a videotapes about his attempt to locate the vehicle by using sonar, a giant magnet to mark wrecks, and his diving equipment. He looked for a lake near where they were going, and he found a car – but it was a much older car.
The Foster family took notice of his work and, according to a news release from Sheriff Steve Trang, informing the sheriff of Sides’ efforts to locate the missing vehicle.
“After reviewing the incident, Sheriff Page advised the man he felt he was searching the wrong area and informed him of the area where the couple went missing 21 years ago, ” the announcement continued. “The man changed his location to Hwy 84, Calfkiller River on November 30, 2021.”
Sides spins, bringing his diving gear and sonar to the area designated by sheriff – and found the missing car.

He contacted authorities, who soon showed up and confirmed the vehicle was Foster’s Pontiac. The car was lifted out of the water, and followed WTVF-DRAW, human remains were found inside the vehicle.
The remains will be taken for a DNA test, in the hope of a match and their families youth will eventually close.
“Every once in a while, there’s a case where someone disappears from the planet and they disappear in their car,” Sides told WTVF. “It was an immediate red flag that most likely, they entered a body of water somewhere.
“It’s a very small town, two teenagers are missing and no one knows where they went,” he said. “Everybody knows these kids, they went to school with them, you know. Half of the police went to school with these people, they were their friends.
“It’s been a great feeling to bring so much intimacy and answers to so many people at once. It means a lot to me, and I know it means a lot to all of them. “
Meanwhile, locals say the river is fairly accessible and small and it seems odd that the area isn’t searched and the car isn’t. find earlier.
“That’s the burning question,” Sides replied in the comment section of one of the posts. “I wish I had the answer. I don’t know about this one.”
Page said at a news conference that authorities initially believed the vehicle would be found at the western end of the county. But when Page was elected last year and reopened the case, he found information suggesting the incident likely happened near Foster’s home in the opposite area of the county.
Sides has also promised to post a full video of the discovery on his Facebook page on Saturday.
