Restart Two pints of lentils and a packet of crispy According to Susan Nickson, the sitcom’s creator, is in the works.
The hit series, which originally ran from 2001 to 2011, follows the lives of a group of 20 people in Runcorn, Cheshire, and stars the likes of Ralf Little, Sheridan Smith, and Will Mellor.
“We’re talking to the BBC,” she said. “They are a corporation and within a corporation there are a lot of gears and those gears move extremely slowly.
“Basically what you have, it’s me, Will, Ralf and all three of us just go, ‘Yes, we’re here, we’ll do it,’ and the BBC would say, ‘That’s great , well let’s do it, and I’m about to sit here and continue, “Ok, when?” and they said, ‘Well, we don’t know.’ So what we have is a corporation with no ideas. “
Nickson went on to admit she wasn’t sure if the likes of Sheridan Smith or other stars like Natalie Casey, Kathryn Drysdale or Luke Gell would be involved.
However, she did hint that a reboot could include themes like the Time’s Up movement and toxic masculinity, especially with the characters Gaz Wilkinson (Mellor) and Jonny Keogh (Little). .
“I wanted to start the story with two veteran working-class employees in a pub fighting the awful things we say about men at the moment,” added the creator. “Some men may not understand that bad guys exist.
“I wanted to see the comforting stories of people like Gaz and Jonny, who live in a world where bad guys don’t exist. I want them to admit the bad guys are out there, but I don’t want Gaz and Jonny to be them.”
