Two Nintendo Switch ports leak online ahead of alleged direct presentation
Two Nintendo Switch ports of highly rated and popular games have been leaked online and could set them up for an announcement at the rumored Direct.
September is officially here, and any fan keeping up with the most important events over the coming weeks will have a calendar full of things to keep up with. Officially speaking, Cyberpunk 2077 is hosting a Night City Wire soon, the Disney and Marvel Games Showcase is taking place on September 9th, and Ubisoft Forward is taking place the day after on September 10th. Then there’s the PS Showcase and Nintendo Direct Rumors to consider, both of which appear likely as they have happened several Septembers in a row, and there are more beyond that.
Regarding Nintendo Direct, recent rumors suggest it will take place the week of September 12th and it will apparently be a ‘zelda Blow out.’ The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and Twilight Princess are said to be getting switch ports, but on top of that, two other very popular (but third-party) games have had switch ports leaked online. It’s not hard to connect the dots and think that all of these ports will be announced at the upcoming Direct, and if so, many fans seem happy.
Lately, Skyrim: Anniversary Edition was rated for Nintendo Switch, the only platform on which this edition was not released. Skyrim is already available on the Switch, but this version isn’t and includes the DLC and new content from the Creation Club. Of course, there are tons of jokes about each version of Skyrim and how many times it’s been ported, but since it’s been rated but there hasn’t been an official announcement, that lends a little more credibility to the direct rumours.
The second title might not be as universal, but it’s loved nonetheless: It takes two. This title has received rave reviews, been a commercial success and has garnered numerous awards such as Game of the Year from The Game Awards 2021. This leak comes from Snitch who has done many things right in the past including the eventual tag one adding Hollow Knight: Silk Song in Game Pass. There’s little reason to doubt it, which means this co-op game about divorcees fixing their relationships is likely to be coming to Switch relatively soon.
Ultimately, how one thinks about these two specific ports seems irrelevant to the bigger picture: these leaks combined with the zelda Port rumors and patterns from September reveals make this month’s Nintendo Direct even more likely. It wouldn’t be surprising if this event were announced in the coming weeks and these games were properly announced there.
