ALERT: This article contains mild malware for Scream (2022).

Screaming, the fifth installment in the popular slasher film series, was released in theaters worldwide yesterday, January 14. Many eager fans got to see the so-called “request” (a major review movie). title of an earlier film but not a remake or a linear continuation of the plot) and reviews have been mostly positive.

In homage to the brainchild of Wes Craven from 1996, Screaming reintroduced Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott, Courteney Cox’s Gale Weathers and David Arquette’s Dwight “Dewey” Riley. In the film, a new killer wears the mask of ‘Ghostface’ and begins targeting a group of teenagers to relive secrets from the town’s deadly past.

To put it humorously, not only Screaming (2022) is considered a reinvention of the franchise for modern audiences, it also confirms Screaming the first time killer’s name for a wide audience. It has become clear, especially on Twitter, that many Screaming followers believe that the real killer is called ‘Scream’.

Apparently, Scream either hasn’t been able to say enough times that ‘Ghostface’ is the serial killer’s name or that some audience is really clueless about franchise lore. Either way, the results of the confusion are pretty interesting, especially since the responses are quite split in the middle.

Several Twitter users were in complete solidarity, saying that they also “didn’t know” that Ghostface was called… Ghostface. Others were embarrassed by their ignorance, but all were in good spirits, for The Scream can be fun for everyone – even those who misname a murderer.

Screaming (2022) is now showing in theaters everywhere.
