Tucker Carlson is obsessed with slandering trans people

For writer Parker Molloy, Tucker Carlson’s obsession with constantly portraying transgender people as crazy or worse on his show is extremely dangerous.

“Tucker Carlson covered a story a few weeks ago about a Canadian teacher who appears to have come out as trans and is wearing these big, goofy prosthetic breasts. Totally inappropriate way of dressing for school or anything else and obviously there is a way to argue that this should not be allowed in school based on dress codes or what should be appropriate in a school. Instead, it used to be, ‘Look, that’s what these trans weirdos are, and they shouldn’t have non-discrimination protections,'” says Molloy, author of The Present Age newsletter, in this bonus episode of The new abnormal podcast.

“It’s so frustrating to watch because that’s the only perspective a lot of people will get. The only trans person they’re going to hear from is — well, they won’t even hear from that trans person — they’re going to hear from Tucker Carlson yelling about this leading to the end of society.”

This is particularly troubling for host Andy Levy, as he points out that attacks on trans rights — and LGBTQ rights in general — seem to be growing and getting bolder, from Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ “Don’t Say Gay Bill” to to bathrooms and sports legislation across the country.

“It’s a recipe for discrimination and it’s going to hurt a lot of people. That’s something I’m really worried about, especially when it comes to these attacks on what people can learn in school, because that sort of thing reflects the 2013 law that Russia put in place, the gay propaganda law that they have enacted [into law] over there. It became illegal to post things in public that basically confront children about being gay or trans and to promote it in any way. And we saw how that played out over there,” says Molloy. “These things worry me because they’re body counted. They come with horrible, horrible things.”

Andy goes on to say that this type of LGBTQ+ discrimination is very close to Nazism today.

“It’s just about establishing a class of people and scapegoating them for all these evils or perceived evils in society and doing basically anything except making them wear a gold star. You shouldn’t have to be trans or gay to look at this and be like, ‘This is scary. This is not what this country is supposed to be.’ It scares the shit out of me,” says Andy.
