Trump personally slams Kellyanne Conway and says to ‘go back to her crazy husband’

Former President Donald Trump personally attacked Kellyanne Conway over her new memoir on Thursday morning. That’s the dealin which she recalled telling the ex-president that he had finally lost the 2020 election.

While Team Trump’s first rebuke of Conway and her book came via a spokesperson earlier this week, this latest flogging was posted by Trump himself on his Truth Social platform.

“Kellyanne Conway never told me she thought we lost the election. If she had I would not have engaged with her any longer – she would have been wrong – could go back to her mad husband,” Trump wrote, referring to George Conway, the ardently anti-Trump husband of his former adviser and campaign manager. “Writing books can make people say some very strange things.”

In the book, Conway claims to have been one of the first advisers to tell Trump he had lost the election, which he has since claimed was “stolen” from him. “I was perhaps the first person Donald Trump trusted in his inner circle to tell him he had come up short this time,” Conway wrote. She didn’t respond to The Daily Beast’s request for comment on Thursday.

Elsewhere in her memoir, Conway took aim at the advisers surrounding Trump who repeated and enabled his disastrous and unfounded claim that the 2020 elections were “rigged” and “stolen” by widespread voter fraud.

“Rather than taking responsibility for the loss, they played along and cheered at the top of their lungs (in private, not on TV) when Trump kept insisting he was winning,” she recalled. “The team failed on November 3rd and they failed again after that. By failing to confront the candidate with the grim reality of his situation that the evidence to support the claims had not surfaced, they denied him the evidence he sought and the respect he deserved. Instead, supplicant after creep after showman knelt before the Resolute Desk and promised the President goods they could not deliver.”

This isn’t the first time Team Trump has thrown cold water at some of the claims in Conway’s book.

As reported exclusively by The Daily Beast over the weekend, Conway claimed that in October 2016, amid the aftermath of the Access Hollywood Cassettes, Trump considered exiting the election. “Should I get out? [of the race]?” Conway recalled Trump asking her on the night of October 8 while continuing to ponder, “Am I going to lose? will we lose Can we still win?”

Following that report, Trump’s chief spokeswoman, Liz Harrington, told The Daily Beast that Conway’s claims about that conversation were “completely false.”

“I don’t need to be lectured by speakers who weren’t there and certainly didn’t help him win,” Conway told The Daily Beast.
