Trump lost the presidential battle but won the immigration war

Don’t question the Biden administration’s commitment to recycling. For immigrants and refugees, many of its policies are failed revisions that still carry the stench of their predecessors.
If before President Donald Trump desire to be vindicated, it will succeed. Following a familiar pattern, Biden is doing it wrong because it’s easier. It is wrong and easy to bring back, as soon as Monday, the haphazardly misnamed Migrant Protection Protocols — commonly known as Policy “Stay in Mexico”.
Trump has pushed the policy, due to Stephen Miller, to wash hands for the refugee crisis at our southern border. The thinking was: Let Mexico handle it. No surprises there. Americans have always looked to the Mexicans to do their dirty work.
So naturally Trump — whose Mar-A-Lago resort in Palm Beach went bankrupt for hiring illegal immigrants — realized he could stick Mexico with the messy task of looking after crowds gathered to apply for asylum in the United States when their case worked. their way through the immigration courts.
Remember that the entire US system is working against asylum seekers. Usually, only one in four asylum seekers will receive a golden ticket that will allow them to start a new life in the United States. The other three received a one-way ticket to the country they had fled from. No one gets any free cards.
But what claimants of this famously immigrant nation’s protective cloak should be provided with — at a minimum — some basic courtesy and common sense. Imagine you are a foreigner, and you are rushing to the US embassy with bad guys watching you. And while your passport is verified, the embassy staff makes you wait outside building?!
Alas, as we have seen many times, Trump is not big on politeness or courtesy. And so, for the first time in American history, a president has essentially outsourced part of the asylum process. In 2019, Trump cut a deal with Mexico that essentially won custody of thousands of migrants as they awaited the outcome of US immigration proceedings. More than 60,000 of those migrants, at the time, mostly from Central America, lived in unsafe and unsanitary detention camps on the other side of the US-Mexico border. There, according to human rights groups, these people suffered kidnapping, rape and torture. There are even allegations that some migrants have been killed, presumably by other migrants.
It is somewhat surprising that, while campaigning for president, Biden – who was then trying to sell himself heavily to introduce himself to Latinos, departed immigrant advocates and other progressives. as a better and gentler alternative to Trump – captured on the “Stay in Mexico” policy to draw contrasts.
“This is the first president in the history of the United States of America [said] Biden said during a debate. “It’s never happened before in America… They’re sitting across the river.”
Biden promised to end the show if elected president, and that’s just what he did shortly after being sworn in. Now, he’s on track to bring it back, reportedly in response to the court’s ruling, even as administration officials continue to denounce the policy as an inherent flaw that does more harm than good. .
So does Team Biden – which says it’s rushing to dismantle Remain in Mexico at the same time as it rushes to get it back in place – abandon or continue the fight?
Both, it seems to be talking. The mixed messages in these two Texas steps are hard to understand, especially for immigration activists who are beginning to feel the rush of a president they helped bring into office.
The authorities add to the confusion by pretending to be the good guys in all of this, insisting they have no choice but to reinstate the “Stay in Mexico” policy.
They aren’t too eager to talk about how the White House is looking to get the most out of the show, which they say they want to end by being proactive. extend who are eligible to be brought back across the border.
Under Biden, those who stay in Mexico can include anyone from the Western Hemisphere outside of Mexico. Under Trump, the only people eligible to return to Mexico are Brazilians and people from Spanish-speaking countries. Think of Biden’s plan as “Stay in Mexico To add. ”
The reason for the change is no mystery. The new language in the newly reinstated policy is intended to make it easier for US border officials to park Haitians in Mexico, something that has not happened under Trump, as thousands of Haitian migrants have flocked to. US border earlier this year.
Bullshit is going serious. The rogue liberals in the Biden administration are inflicting cruelty and acting with callous indifference towards thousands of desperate souls from around the world who have no choice. Then, instead of taking ownership of what they’re doing and why, their first instinct is to be dishonest about all of it in order to appear more progressive than it really is.
After all, a chaotic immigration system could cause Democrats to lose control of the House and Senate in the 2022 midterm elections. Americans are taken with immigrants. These are difficult days. So even more than usual, people are feeling selfish and unacceptable. Just in time for the holidays, they’re looking inward. With gas and food prices rising and renewed worries about the health and economic impact of another COVID variant, we’re pulling the demand-pull up — again.
As many Americans fear, the withdrawal from this world is coming at the right time. It is reported that another migrant caravan is en route from South America to the US-Mexico border. It could be here in a few weeks.
So again, the Biden administration is doing the politically right. And, as they fuel the fire from realistic progressives who feel cheated and manipulated, Biden officials are shamefully hiding in the wake of the federal court ruling.
In August, US District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk ordered the Biden administration to restart the “Stay in Mexico” program because it failed to notify the states that the program was coming to an end. The judge’s order took effect immediately. Over the past few months, the White House has been negotiating with Mexico and developing a plan to restart the program.
As any freshman law student can tell you, a judge’s order is not final. Or at least it shouldn’t. That is why the founders created the courts of appeals of the United States. If it’s pushed right, the administration could challenge the judge’s order or try to resolve the impasse with some creative innovation of the original policy.
But who wants all of that to happen in the run-up to midterms? Not a Democrat, that’s for sure.
Politics. That’s what this is all about. That’s all it was about.
That was true back when the Trump administration first floated the inhuman idea of feeding thousands of people who would be refugees south of the US-Mexico border, even though doing so would make those that is damaged. And it’s true that now the Biden administration is not only continuing where Trump left off but, worse, expanding the program to include a whole new group of people that the White House wants to get rid of.
And to think, thousands of people are still clamoring to get into this country. They certainly didn’t take a good look at the politicians running it.
