Trinamool leadership strategises on uniting opposition parties

Trinamool National Secretary Abhishek Banerjee held a closed-door meeting with poll strategist Prashant Kishor and held a private meeting with the party’s MPs, before the Speaker of the National Assembly Trinamool Mamata BanerjeeHer three-day visit to New Delhi begins July 27, where she will meet opposition leaders.
She will also meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “I have received an appointment from the Prime Minister. I will meet him and if possible, I will also visit President Ramnath Kovind.”
Trinamool Parliament sources said Thursday’s meeting was crucial as Mamata Banerjee intends to unite opposition parties under one umbrella ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha vote.
On the Pegasus issue, Mamata Banerjee said: “We must fight together against the tyranny of the BJP, and against Pegasus. The BJP’s authoritarian and snooping attitude is an attempt to silence people’s voices. If our voice and basic rights are lost, everything is lost.”
She said that if the government is not behind the snooping, they should take action against Pegasus. “All organs have been converted into different forms of Pegasus. The BJP does not trust its own ministers and RSS. Their phones were also tapped,” she said.
Banerjee also said that she held a closed-door meeting with Kishor, party general secretary Abhishek Banerjee and party chairman Subrata Bakshi before the West Bengal parliamentary elections and even that meeting was spied on.
