Trevor Bauer restraining order hearing delayed until Aug. 2

LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer appeared in court Friday to fight an extension of a protective order sought by a woman.

Attorneys for Bauer and for the woman revealed in a brief court hearing that they plan to call several witnesses, including Bauer, and argue about what order in what order a trial is expected to last. three days long.

Judge Dianna Gould-Saltman delayed the start of that hearing until August 2 because Bauer’s attorney, Shawn Holley, said she was provided a witness list to the woman late and without enough time to prepare.

“We came here ready, but ready about what was presented to us,” Holley told the court.

Gould-Saltman ruled that Bauer would need to take a stand and must refuse to answer each of these standard civil procedural incriminating questions like this one. She refused Holley’s request for him to avoid testifying altogether. Holley said she is strongly advising Bauer not to say anything.

Police in Pasadena, California, are also investigating allegations of possible criminal charges, so avoiding self-incrimination is essential to his legal team.

The judge extended the temporary restraining order barring Bauer from contacting the woman until the end of the full hearing.

The flask’s agents, Jon Fetterolf and Rachel Luba, have denied the allegations. Fetterolf said in a statement that the couple’s brief relationship was “completely consensual.” The statement said Bauer had text messages from the woman asking for the kind of “rough” sexual interaction they had.

Major League Baseball placed Bauer on paid leave on July 2 under the general domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse policy adopted by the MLB and the players’ union in 2015. The leave period has been extended until July 27 and can be extended further.

The woman, from San Diego, said in court documents looking for the order in which she and Bauer met on Instagram when she tagged him in a photo as he threw the ball during the game against the Padres at may.

She then visited his home in Pasadena and had sexual encounters that began as consensual but turned violent without her consent, the documents said.

The victim, identified as Ms. Hill, has filed a request to limit domestic violence.
The victim said she was suffocated to the point of unconsciousness and punched during the encounter with Bauer.

The second incident, in which she accused Bauer of repeatedly punching her, left her with black eyes, swollen lips, significant bruising and a scratch on one side of her face. She attached photos showing the injuries.

The documents say she sought the order because Bauer repeatedly called and texted her after her second meeting to ask if she was okay and that she no longer wanted to contact him.

Bauer’s representatives said he had not contacted her for a month when the restraining order was first sought, making the move baseless.

The Associated Press usually does not identify people who say they have been victims of sexual assault.

Bauer agreed to a three-year, $102 million deal to join hometown side Dodgers earlier this year after claiming his first win for Cy Young with the Cincinnati Reds last season. Bauer is 8-5 with a 2.59 ERA in 17 games starting this season.
