RAIDERS SNUB TAYLOR
Canberra has turned down the chance to sign Ash Taylor on a super-cheap deal as the $1 million player’s house struggles to find a club for 2022.
Taylor is out of contract this year and the Raiders would be a perfect fit should they lose George Williams, who has returned home to England.
Sam Williams is set to sign a contract extension with the club, but Taylor won’t be linked with Dien May Xanh any time soon.
Channel 9’s Danny Weidler told Big Sports Breakfast: “I think he was offered to the Raiders for about $300,000 and there wasn’t much interest,” Channel 9’s Danny Weidler told Big Sports Breakfast.
“It was quite a shock for a guy who was the next big guy at the Broncos, then he went to the Gold Coast with a salary of $1 million a year.”
Browsing OUTDOORS
For a long time, it looks like the Wests Tigers will stick with their money-rich defender Luke Brooks.
But now it looks like they tried to push him out the door withJackson Hastings returns after an impressive three years in the UK.
Hastings is said to be sign like a padlock, but that doesn’t seem to be the case when the Tigers want to offload Brooks.
“I spoke to a coach today who spoke with the Wests Tigers two weeks ago about doing the swap,” Phil Rothfield of the Daily Telegraph told NRL360 on Monday.
“The Tigers offered Brooks, but they wanted two players (in return).
“I cannot mention the club because the coach told me confidently. but this was two weeks ago and he thinks I’m not going to give two players to Luke Brooks. “
The club in question could be just the Raiders, with Nine’s Danny Weidler revealing that the club were given the chance to sign the sick full-back but said ‘no thanks’.
“I think the Raiders could also be offered Luke Brooks,” Weidler told Big Sports Breakfast. “I don’t know where that is at the moment.
“The Tigers will deny that they’re shopping him around, but I don’t know if he’s the answer at the Raiders.”
Nine’s The Mole also linked Brooks to the Raiders, naming the Sharks as another faction intrigued by his talent.
“I heard that both Cronulla and Canberra have shown an interest in his services,” he wrote on WWoS.
BULLDOGS WIN FOR THE AWESOME BRONCOS STAR
The Bulldogs reportedly won the race for the signature of unwanted Broncos enforcer Tevita Pangai Jr.
The deal is believed to be a three-year deal from next season until the end of 2024 after the Broncos reportedly agreed to release him.
Earlier, speaking on Fox League’s NRL Tonight, Brent Read from The Australian revelead the Bulldogs will announce the signing of Pangai Jr in the next two days.
“This is near,” Read said
“Tevita management spoke to the Broncos tonight about a deal or a payout figure that could get the deal done, it seems Canterbury.
“Canterbury is very confident that they have won game day against Tevita Pangai.
“I expect an announcement in the next day or two on this.
“Tevita I’m not sure he’ll be at Canterbury this season. I think they are looking at him for next season onwards.
“It is possible that Tevita leaves Brisbane this season before August 1 and plays for someone else for the rest of 2021, then moves to Canterbury.
“But Canterbury is very confident that they have won the day with Pangai Jr.”
BULLDOG CLOSED ON STAR PACKED DRAGON
The Bulldogs are working with the NRL integrity unit in an effort to try and sign fired Dragons advocate Paul Vaughan.
Phil Rothfield revealed on NRL360 that the issue is whether Vaughan will have to serve a partial or full eight-week suspension for trespassing the infamous Covid party.
“I think Paul Vaughan will also be there at the Bulldogs,” Rothfield said.
“This is a complicated issue because they are talking to the integrity unit about whether if they sign him now that would resolve his eight-week suspension.
“Or they can wait and sign him next year and see if the suspension goes away by then. That’s the conversation they’re having.”
“When the NRL first brought it up, they said wherever he ended up, that’s where an eight-week suspension should be served,” Paul Kent added.
“It’s a detractor.”
“But the NRL won’t let the Bulldogs sign him for $20,000,” Rothfield said.
“It would have to be an actual eight-week contract.”
FORMER RAIDERS STAR BACK ON NRL
Former Raiders last defender Aidan Sezer has signed a two-year contract with Leeds Rhinos in the English Super League, ending his chances of a return to the NRL.

VETERAN PROP WEIGHS FIRST FINAL MOVE
Aaron Woods is on the hunt for a new club after being told by the Sharks he won’t be offered a new contract next year, but the 30-year-old could leave the club sooner than expected.
Last week, the Manly Sea Eagles and Parramatta Eels were revealed that Manly Sea Eels and Parramatta Eels were considering offering Woods an immediate conversion deal.
However, The Daily Telegraph’s Phil Rothfield reports that top prize heavyweights, Melbourne, are also keeping an eye on the former Kangaroos striker.
“I heard that Manly and Melbourne Storm are keen to sign him for the rest of the year. This was just a week ago,” Rothfield said Sky Sports Radio’s big sports breakfast.
“Woodsy has never won the top spot and I haven’t confirmed that with Melbourne Storm but imagine the opportunity to end the season with Storm and put a ring on your finger at the end of the year.”

HOT EELS ON MILFORD – BUT WHERE DOES HE NEED TO SIGN UP?
Not long ago, Anthony Milford’s time at the NRL came to an end. The underperforming half’s $1 million contract is due to expire at the end of the season and his removal from the Broncos ’17 makes it difficult for him to entice opponents.
However, it was revealed on Sunday that Eel discussed throwing Milford a lifeline for the rest of the season with the view that he would be a utility player on the bench.
But Parramatta is not the only club showing an interest in the unwanted player. The Daily Telegraph’s Phil Rothfield is reporting that the Dragons have come “very close” to signing the 27-year-old.
“Two weeks ago, St George approached the Broncos and was very close to doing a deal around the time of Vaughan’s barbecue but they pulled out at the last minute,” he said. Sky Sports Radio’s big sports breakfast.
“Then Parramatta went to Brisbane, crossed the town where Milford lived and they thought ‘we might need another 14 to make a safety net for the final’, so they questioned the Broncos and Milford can jump ship.”
