Too early to assess impact of delayed monsoon on kharif crops: Narendra Singh Tomar

Minister of Agriculture Narendra Singh Tomar on Friday said it was too early to assess the impact of Monsoon delayed above kharif plants as the seeding is still in progress. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the southwest monsoon amount of rain generally less than 5% of normal rainfall for the period up to July 21, Tomar said in a written response. Rajya Sabha.

“It is too early to make an assessment on kharif crop yields as seeding is still continuing because there is still enough time,” he said.

He added, the monsoon hit Kerala on June 3 compared with the normal arrival time of June 1.
