Showing in a well-lit loft area, Tones was surrounded in a half-circle by a full choir in glowing pink robes, which added an additional flourish to the uplifting monitor: “Now that I’m older, with these moments/Will I reside with them or simply throw them away, away?/However your momma at all times stated, ‘Search for into the sky/Discover the solar on a cloudy day.’”
In an announcement, the singer stated that “Cloudy Day” was impressed by the passing of her buddy T, whose dying made it troublesome for her to write down music.
“I met up with a buddy who informed me this saying from his late mum — ‘on a cloudy day, lookup into the sky and discover the solar,’” the singer recalled. “I knew I wished to make use of that as a lyric and the subsequent time I went into the studio I wrote ‘Cloudy Day.’”
Welcome to the Madhouse arrives this Friday, following a string of singles that features “Cloudy Day” and “Won’t Sleep.” The album follows Tones and I’s 2019 EP The Youngsters Are Coming, which featured her breakout single “Dance Monkey.”
