The Academy Award-winning actor plays Elvis Presley’s longtime manager, Colonel Tom Parker

Hanks stars in the new Elvis Presley biopic, simply titled elvisas Colonel Tom Parker, Preseley’s notorious longtime manager who launched his career.
Parker discovered Presley in 1955 and the two worked together until the singer’s death in 1977. Parker himself died in 1997 at the age of 87.
During the elvis Panel at the Cannes Film Festival in late May, Hanks spoke about the divisive role and why he chose to portray such an unlikable character.
He said: “I’m not interested in playing a villain just to be like, ‘Before I kill you, Mr Bond, you might like to take a tour of my facilities’.” That’s okay, I understand, but that’s for other stuff.”
Hanks added, “Without Colonel Tom Parker, there would have been no Elvis; Without Elvis there would have been no Colonel Tom Parker. A symbiotic relationship.
“What [Luhrmann] What attracted me was that here was a guy who saw an opportunity to turn a once-in-a-lifetime talent into a cultural force.”
Hanks said Luhrmann described Parker as a “big Carney,” or carnival worker.
He said: “The showman’s job is to take people to the glittering lights outside the city, promise them something they’ve never experienced before and then give it to them almost for a price.
“When he said that, I said, ‘I’m your man’.”

When was he seen shaking – how is his health?
Fans of the actor have raised concerns about his health following a clip showing his shaking hands that went viral.
Footage, which was captured on June 4, was captured at the Australian premiere of elvis, and showed Hanks on stage apparently struggling to keep a microphone steady. In the clip, he can be seen wiggling the microphone and trying to hold it with both hands at several points.
Hanks did not address his shaking hands at the time of filming and has not issued a statement after the video surfaced online.
While some have speculated that the actor might simply be suffering from nerves, others have speculated that his shaking hands could have been caused by his diabetes, a diagnosis he shared in 2013.
At the time, Hanks appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman and said, “I went to the doctor and he said, ‘You know those high blood sugars you’ve been dealing with since you were 36? Well you graduated! You have type 2 diabetes, young man.”
In March 2020, Hanks was also going through a tough time recovering from Covid-19 after contracting the virus alongside his wife Rita Wilson while the couple was in Australia.
