Sports debut at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics

A variety of different sports were added to the Tokyo Olympics. According to the rules of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the host country has the right to host sports at the event.

The sports added to the Tokyo 2021 Olympics are free BMX, basketball from three to three, karate, surfing and skateboarding. Softball and baseball will also play for the first time since the 2008 edition of the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
